WebP, JPG, PNG or SVG: which should I choose?
Use JPG for a photo when the destination requires JPG; PNG when you need transparency; and SVG for an editable vector original. Keep WebP when the destination accepts it. JPG and JPEG are two extensions for the same format. The receiving app's accepted formats should guide your export choice.

Why does a downloaded image fail to open?
Changing a filename from .webp to .jpg does not convert its contents. Keep the original and use the matching converter to create a new file. PicFitly checks file contents and can reject an image whose extension does not match its format.
- Check the destination's accepted formats, file size and pixel dimensions.
- Choose the original file in the matching PicFitly tool, or try its built-in sample first.
- Convert, preview and download the new result. Upload that result rather than the original file.
If a file still fails, it may be incomplete or unsupported. Download the original again. Renaming an HTML download or a damaged image cannot repair it. PicFitly's raster tools accept JPG, PNG and WebP; HEIC and AVIF are not supported inputs.
Why did the background turn white?
JPG has no transparency. PicFitly fills transparent areas with the selected background color when exporting JPG. Select PNG or WebP output when you need to keep transparent areas. Turning a white-background JPG into PNG keeps the white pixels; it does not create a cutout.
Try it with a sample: open WebP to JPG, choose Try a sample and change Transparency background. Convert and inspect the preview. Changing that setting clears old results, so convert again before downloading. Use WebP to PNG for an export with existing transparency intact.
PicFitly exports the first frame of animated WebP as a still image. If you need motion, keep the animated original and use a tool that explicitly supports animated output.
How do I export SVG to PNG without blurry edges?
Set the final pixel width in SVG to PNG before conversion. For a 3:2 SVG, a width of 1,200 pixels produces a height of 800 pixels. Scaling the vector at export gives its shapes a new raster rendering; enlarging a small PNG later does not recover the vector original.
Keep the SVG for future edits. The PNG is a fixed-size image. Embedded bitmap images remain limited by their original detail. PicFitly may reject SVGs with external resources, scripts, filters or unsupported content. Export a simplified SVG from the original editor; outline text if unavailable fonts change its appearance.
How do I get a photo under 200 KB?
Open Compress to KB, choose a JPG, PNG or WebP, and enter 200 in Maximum file size (KB). In this tool, 200 KB means 200,000 bytes per successful JPG. The limit does not apply to the combined ZIP download.
If the limit cannot be met, the tool reports an error. Reduce Maximum width or Maximum height in Resize & rotate, then convert again. It only changes dimensions when you set resize limits. Check the destination's minimum dimensions before making an image smaller.
For example, a 3,000 × 2,000 image fitted inside 1,500 × 1,500 becomes 1,500 × 1,000. This reduces the pixel count from six million to 1.5 million; the file size still depends on the image and quality. A square size limit does not automatically crop the image to a square.
Before you upload the result
- Format: confirm the destination accepts the selected output. Format conversion alone does not guarantee a smaller file.
- Detail: inspect small text, edges and faces in the preview. Repeated JPG exports can introduce visible changes; start from your best original.
- Size: check both file size and pixel dimensions. They are different requirements.
- Save: download before clearing files, changing tools or closing the tab. PicFitly processes images locally and does not keep a server copy for later retrieval.
